SO WHAT IS BETA CAROTENE?
The naturally occurring plant pigments, known as carotenoids are responsible for brightly colouring fruits and vegetables. The most beneficial for human health is beta carotene, a fat-soluble form of Vitamin A derived from plants. Beta-carotene is responsible for giving fruits and plants their bright yellow, orange and red pigment. Beta-carotene is a “provitamin” because in converts into the active form of vitamin A called retinol. Retinol is an essential nutrient that benefits the skin (and body) by assisting with wound healing, cellular turnover, cellular renewal and the improving the skin’s immunity. Applying beta-carotene topically helps to improve the tone, texture and elasticity of the skin as well as improving the appearance of uneven pigment.
ANTIOXIDANT
The body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A, an antioxidant that helps to protect cells from damage.
HEALTHY GLOW
Beta-carotene increases cellular turnover and renewal revealing a vibrant looking skin.
PHOTO PROTECTIVE
Beta-carotene helps to reduce the risk of sunburn by helping to boost the effectiveness of sun protection.
ANTI-AGING
Vitamin A is a key nutrient to diminish the signs of aging. Applying nutrient rich beta-carotene, helps to increase levels of vitamin A in the skin.
ACNE & BREAKOUTS
Low levels of vitamin A in the skin can contribute to acne and breakouts. Increasing your intake of beta-carotene producing fruits and vegetables and using a skin care product containing beta-carotene can help to restore low levels of vitamin A in the skin. Incorporating vitamin E and zinc into your skin care regime are also beneficial to reducing acne and breakouts.
